When Japanese Americans living in the Bay Area were forcibly removed to internment camps during World War 2, despite legal resistance and civil disobedience, they were forced to endure having their rights taken away, but the Redress Movement after World War 2 was a breaking of silence that pushed towards reparations and recognition of racially-motivated removal of rights during the war.
