Workshops
Our workshops are free-of-cost and open to all students in grades 5th-8th (10-14 yrs old)!
About the workshop: At Megaphone, we believe that strong writing skills are fundamental for a student’s future success in any field and that it is important to give younger children opportunities to develop these skills early on in life. As part of this workshop, students will produce one original creative writing piece which they will be encouraged to submit to Stone Soup and/or Highlights Kids. Additionally, articles written by students will be selected to be published on our website as a magazine to promote the voices of youth. Our instructors will guide students on how to structure their work and aptly explain and contain their creative ideas into a meaningful piece of writing.
Who is teaching this workshop: Our instructors are highly qualified juniors in high school, and are all required to have received a score of 5 on either the AP English Language or Literature Exam and currently have a score of at least 750 out of 800 on the Reading and Writing section of the SAT (99th percentile of test-takers).

Fundraising
Support Children of the Night with Megaphone!

Children of the Night is a non-profit organization focused on supporting young victims of human trafficking who are sexually exploited. This nonprofit connects young victims of human trafficking with long-term professional care. This care helps them move on from the trauma and setbacks that typically plague victims of human trafficking and set them up for future success and stability by placing them in jobs, special educational schools, trade schools, vocational schools, and/or community colleges.
In support of Children of the Night’s cause, we have organized a fundraiser with Children of the Night where proceeds go directly towards supporting sexually-trafficked children with medical services, job placement, access to trade schools or community colleges, etc.
