SAN JOSE – For Bay Area football fans, the Super Bowl hit a little closer to home.

On February 8th, the Super Bowl LX took place right in Santa Clara, at Levi’s Stadium, a local landmark and hotspot. Millions across the country tuned into the game, seeing the Seattle Seahawks defeat the New England Patriots 29-13 to claim the NFL title for the 2025 season.
From San Jose living rooms to packed bars in San Francisco, the atmosphere across the Bay Area was electric. Even for residents who weren’t fans of football, hosting the Super Bowl reminded locals just how big the event is.
“It’s wild seeing the whole country talk about Santa Clara,” said one East Bay resident. “Usually people outside California don’t even know where it is.”
The game wasn’t the only spectacle of the night. The halftime show featured global star Bad Bunny with special appearances by Lady Gaga and Ricky Martin, turning the stadium into a massive concert stage.

For longtime Bay Area residents, the event also brought back memories of the last time the region hosted the NFL championship a decade earlier.
“Whether you care about the teams or not,” another resident said, “it’s pretty cool knowing the biggest game in America happened basically in our backyard.”
