Interview with Artist Seaomnde (Part Two: Art Walkthrough)

Author: Nicole Tan

Now, we will move onto the art walkthrough portion of this interview, where we will be hearing from Seaomnde, and will be learning more about her artistic process and explanations of specific pieces she has produced.

Piece 1: DTIYS (Draw This In Your Style) for @miyurains 13k

For this art piece, I was participating in miyurains’ 13k DTIYS, to draw her original character (OC), Radella. She was described to be a fairy, so I wanted to play into that theme and have her in the forest with a rabbit. This was my first artwork that was fully rendered, and I believe spent over 50 hours on this piece. I remember I kept on redrawing her face because it didn’t look right, and re-rendering the hair because it looked too “soft”. Since it was my first time doing a fully rendered piece, I played around a lot with different tools to try to make it look the best it could. I do wish I worked more on the background, since it looks quite lacking, but overall I’m happy with this piece!

Also, I’m very happy to say that I was chosen to be featured on her winners post, and although I didn’t win, I’m really grateful that my artwork caught miyurains’ eye!

Piece 2: Childe from Genshin Impact

For this drawing, I drew Childe from the game Genshin Impact. I also spent a lot of time working on the face in this drawing, and I’m really happy with the result! I think I struggled the most with the anatomy and this certain angel in particular. Also, for the hair, it was originally a lot less vibrant, but I wanted to make it look more colorful and for it to stand out more, so I added streaks of gold and pink to make the hair look better. This is definitely one of my favorite pieces and I’m really happy with it, though it would have been nice if it had more action or had a background.

Piece 3: Luka from “Alien Stage”

Finally, this piece was inspired by a scene from an animated online series called “Alien Stage”, which you can find on YouTube. One of the characters, named Luka, is the focus of this piece. Inspired by a frame from Round 7, I drew this piece. I really had a lot of fun with the colors in this artwork, and loved the blue glare that was reflected on his face in the original scene. Also, I think I stepped it up in terms of composition and background in comparison to my previous artwork, which I am very happy with, seeing my growth. Overall, I really like this artwork.

Thank you, Seaomnde, for joining me today! I loved learning more about you and you artwork. Make sure to follow her on Instagram, at the handle @seaomnde.
