The Cat

By: Wilson Huang

The cat had been left outside for days.  Since it was kicked out of his owner’s home for being unable to catch all the mice, the poor cat was left scrounging the streets for any morsel of food. The alleys were dark, and rain was pouring down on the frightful, panicked cat. As the cat rushed to find a shelter, a cruel-hearted man kicked it and yelled, “Scram you good for nothing cat!” The cat whimpered with pain and fear, emotions that were like brothers to him, as his past owner constantly yelled and kicked at the cat, screaming that the cat was useless, and a waste of food. Now, as the cat stood in sadness and fear, suddenly, a small child gently picked him up, and brought him to where he really belonged:  a loving and safe home.
